This year our local has been active in giving to our local charities. Check out the following:

Wiarton Donates to Salvation Army

This Christmas instead of getting Tim cards this year the Wiarton staff donated $710 to the Salvation Army. That's showing the spirit of the season!  Way to go Wiarton staff!!

Scholorship Recipients 2011

Opseu Local 260 presented its first ever scholorship award this year. We would like to thank everyone for their interest and it was a very hard decision to make as all the applicants were excellent. The two recipients are:

Crystal Mcleod

Member of local 260

She is currently enrolled at Nipissing University in Bachelor of Science Nursing. Crystal has been employed at GBHS Owen Sound Site as a summer student. She has also been a student volunteer in Day Surgery and the ER in Owen Sound in past years. Her future hopes are to work at GBHS as an Emergency or Neonatal Intesive Care nurse and to eventually pursue her Masters or enter a Nurse Practicioner Program. 

Leslie Lerch

 Daughter of local 260

She is currently enrolled in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Toronto. Leslie has volunteered extensively at Bloorview Rehabilitation Hosptial, Thames Valley Children's Centre, with Autism Ontario and at LHSC and GBHS as a co-op student and volunteer. Her future plans are to support needs of children with communication disorders in rural settings and work in community eduction.
